I Wikied today about the def. of a VA. I found this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_assistant

Its quite amuzing how updated it is. I think many of us do fit this and somehow can comply with this. Can anyone add more to being a VA, I would like to hear experiences. Mine have been gratifying as a regular Assistant but I would like to know about a Virtual one.

With a VA, you don’t need to find an additional office space for them like you usually do for a regular employee. No need for additional equipments and no need for you to manage them like a regular employee. So this is definitely cost effective. In short, a VA can do just about anything a regular employee can only that the manner in which you send tasks to him or her will vary slightly. Instead of walking to hand over your paper files to another office, you simply attach the same files electronically and send it via email.

There is the advantage, of course, of working from home, but it's not that easy a profession to get in to. It does take a lot of networking, and marketing yourself to get your VA business off the ground. You should have at least 5 years of administrative assistance experience, and at least an intermediate knowledge of various software applications. There are also various software applications that allow you and your client to share files; and you could end up with more than one of these applications to make sure you satisfy your clients needs. And of course a website helps a lot; you can build it yourself or you can hire a professional. I wish you much success in your business, and don't give up. All good things take time.
