Need help with newsletter

Hi everyone,

FindVirtual.com is growing fast and we are ready to start marketing ourselves heavily to the masses.

We have a newsletter that we are going to start publishing monthly to a select group of recipients.

We'd like some input regarding content.

If you have articles/blog posts or resources that you would like to submit for inclusion in the FindVirtual.com newsletter please let us know right away so we can start evaluating.

Our goal is to push this out before September, 30 2008.

What a great idea Kelly! Is your target other virtual assistants or potential clients for virtual assistants?

If you're targeting other virtual assistants, you may want to focus on tools to help them. I recently did an interview with a successful VA in the Sacramento area and she's given me permission to use the article I wrote in my newsletter. I'd be happy to share it with you. Oh cool, thanks Sue! We are planning on publishing this particular newsletter to potential clients. That being said we think that including interviews with virtual assistants and other va resources will not only help that particular va (hence our little incentive) but also the business person who might learn more about our industry through learning more about a specific virtual assistant.

I'll email you and then maybe you can attach it for me to check out? We won't do anything with it until you approve it of course.

Thanks so much for the help! I'll check out your blog over the weekend and see what you've got. I'm sure it is all great, I was actually reading the "How to Turn Your Blog into a Book" content you have - great idea there too!

I am new to the VA business but part of my strenght is in editing and proofreading. If you need help with that I would love to be of assistance. As I get further into the business I hope that I will have content to contribute too.

Hi everyone,

UGH, our newsletter went out this morning to more than 1200 recipients. I am bummed because I did not get a chance to really make it as awesome as it could have been. I guess I just got caught up with too much to do and had a really tight time-line.

Anyway, wanted to let you know that I did include a few blog posts from the site and linked them back here for more info.

I have a designer working on some additional newsletter designs because I HATE the current format!
Here are a few samples he came up, they are attached to this post - check them out and let me know what you think.

Wanted to add that these templates are just templates, so logo, color etc can be modified. The guy that did them for us works for a pretty big media company so these are the kind of templates they are moving towards. Here are a few more to check out!

Was the newsletter the creating more time for entrepreneurs or something else? Can I see it? I'm not really thrilled with any of these template; they all look similar. I don't want to sound discouraging though. Maybe I just need to see them with the right colors, logo, etc.

The important thing is to make it easy to read, not too busy. Have a TOC so people can read what they want and skip what they don't, especially if you have lots of information in it.

Hi Sue, yea it was creating more time for entrepreneurs...
Hardly a newsletter, I know, I am disappointed too.

We rushed it to meet the October 1 deadline we set for ourselves and probably should have just postponed it till we were convinced it was perfect.

Good news is I have another batch of templates coming this week and we are hiring some folks to help us with other tasks that FindVirtual.com needs completed, so, that will help free me up for a more focused approach to our marketing efforts. :)

I really want to put together a true newsletter that is editorially rich. We need to share valuable information with this newsletter and not just send one to send one, ya know?

We are going to start on the next one much earlier, probably even get started next week.
Once I have a better version, probably Wednesday next week, I will post it for us all to take a look at and comment on. I don't mind any criticism either, that is usually the best feedback if you ask me because knowing our flaws and fixing them is the only way we'll get better. :)
