Having worked in the world of technology for decades, I know that every January, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas brings new technology to the attention of the entire world. Folks who don't even care about technology become aware of it through the marketing and hoopla around CES. It's a good thing for technology companies, not just for the conference itself, but also because of the public awareness.

I can find very little information online about VA conferences other than IVAA's annual conference, and a few small local conferences.

What other conferences are there? Is anyone doing an excellent job of creating a conference that benefits VAs both by delivering superb content and by creating positive public awareness of the industry?

And if there's not, what would you like to see at that conference? (because I'd like to create it)

Here's a fun, relaxing idea! Have one at my house up here in the country in PA - there are two B&B's right around the corner from me, plus those who want to can pitch a tent in my back yard or bring an air mattress for floor space. Why, you ask? Because there's nothing like fresh air and quiet to cleanse the mind and soul and force you to RELAX! And when you're relaxed and cleansed, more information flows in and out of your brain (that's my opinion and I'm sticking with it!) And it would be VERY inexpensive - no room costs, etc., and I'm betting the B&B's would be very inexpensive if we fill the place. I would be happy to rent a party tent and cook breakfast for everyone. Beat that, Joel!! LOL! But seriously, I love your idea of "un-conferences"! (It's just the event planner in me talking ...)
When can we talk on the phone, Nickey? If you've got contact info for the B&Bs, can you provide that? Also, when can we talk on the phone, Nickey?

'cause, like, yer on.
I know some local VA's here in IL tried to put a conference together (don't think it ever happened), so I know there are quite a few in the ChicagoLand area.
Would love the networking of course and maybe business training (management, organization, marketing)
Chicago's definitely a stop for us to make. Hope to spend some time everywhere from Michigan across to Ottawa, and hit the good spots in between. Chicago's a good spot.

Sue and I specialise in the business training, networking, all that. We'll keep in touch about when, where, and how.
Tawnya Sutherland of VANetworking is planning a conference in 2011. Looks like it will be in Vancouver and knowing Tawnya, it will be an event you won't want to miss. Stay tuned to her forums for more details. I'll post them here when I learn more too. =)
