Greetings All,

My town hosts an annual community fair each year which attracts people from the tri-state area. This year, I plan to have a booth and meet and greet potential clients.

Have you ever done this, ie, participated in a community event?

If yes, what type of marketing materials or promotional hand-outs did you distribute? I'll have my brochure and business cards and a client interests and services form along with a "how can I help you" survey for follow-up.

People like to collect things at the fair so I want a few hand-outs to pass out. What works? What doesn't work? Need to stay on budget....so items under $1 are a necessity. I've considered personalized pencils, highlighters, mini-calendars, mousepads, rulers, etc.

Let's discuss how to build a business by being an active participant in your community.

Thanks in advance.

J

Hello J,

While I have not participated in a community event, I have helped a few businesses find the right items for their promotional needs in community events, trade shows, and client appreciation gifts. You are on the right train of thought with your promotional product ideas. Let the realtor give them kitchen gadgets, the car dealer give them ice scrapers, and the pharmacist give them weekly pill containers -- as Virtual Assistants, we want to give them something they will use as they go about their daily administrative tasks!

Calendars are great in the late fall/early winter - people usually have what they need for the year by mid-January, and giving next year's too early may be 'lost' before it is needed. Sticky notes or regular notepads are used throughout the office and home; letter openers are a daily need; as are coasters for the desk and tables.

Please let me know if you need a resource to help you find the best products for the best price.

I hope the event works out very well for you!

I've gotten a lot of things from National Pen, their online catalog is at: http://www.pens.com/pens/default.aspx?BAC-BANNERAD&partner=Nati....
Hi Viki.

Thanks for suggesting National Pen Company. I've contacted a couple companies and requested samples. Found out today I need to double my ordering numbers.
