Discover virtual entrepreneurship by building a career using skills you already have.

This category has been sorely neglected. If you haven't already, please use this thread to introduce yourself to the community. I know your profile page has lots of information about each of you virtual assistants. But I thought it might be fun in this introductions category to share a personal tidbit.

Here's mine: I'm Sue Canfield, mother of Fiona who will be 6 at the end of March. We homeschool and play 'office' together a lot. She makes me smile every day. :)

Hi everyone,

This is so great that we all have the opportunity to network like this and we all have so much in common.

I'm Tionni Bell, owner of www.24HourPersonalAssistant.com, and I am feeling great because I am moving in the direction of my dreams. Although it's not so easy all of the time, its a wonderful and rewarding feeling. I want to be there for my small child and have flexibility and freedom in my work, that's exactly why I chose to be a virtual office administrator.

Currently, I am working for a school district and have been for the past 4 years. I am ready to have freedom and enjoy life by helping enough other people enjoy theirs; mainly busy people, elderly people, and people who want to enjoy life.

Hi Angel,

My name is Tionni. It is nice to meet you. I just started my VA business and I am having a bit of trouble finding work. Can you give me some tips? I live in Sacramento, Ca.
Hello all! I'm Michelle Habkirk, single mom of 3 very tall, very talented sons (15, 16, and 20...holy cow!), avid reader, lifelong learner, lover of all things musical, and meatball-maker extraordinaire. I am the founder and co-owner of Savvy Office Solutions along with my amazing sister Amanda Habkirk. People call us "The Savvy Sisters"! Between the two of us we have (gasp!) more than 40 years of top-notch experience in a vast array of just about everything entailed in running and office & operating a successful business...you name it, we've probably done it. When we are not plotting our virtual world takeover, we like to network, keep up to date on what's hip & happenin' in the online business world, and share what we know with everyone who wants to hear it :) Together we like to work hard and have a whole lot of fun along the way!
Hey there, all! I'm sure I've chatted with some of you at one point or another, either via email, Skype, Twitter, VANA or here ... but I wanted to pop in and say hello to anyone I have not yet "met".

I am the proud owner of Deadline Met Virtual Assistant Services, which officially opened it's doors as of February 1, 2010. I left the corporate world (and my f/t, secure job) as of April 1st to dive full-time, head-on into my own VA biz. I'm 39, married, no kids and have been and assistant and worked in an office support in one way or another for 20 years. I love being an assistant as I am, by nature, a helper. (Most VAs are!) I love helping my clients succeed and find joy in being relied upon for my support.

I've got one steady client so far, and two that I'm supporting here and there (but it's growing). I love working for myself, even when it's overwhelming and scary at times, and my goal is to have 30 billable hours of client work per week by October 1, 2010, and ultimately to retire at 55. I want my last J.O.B. to be the very last time I will have ever worked as someone's employee and I'm not going to let anything stop me from making that happen!

I live in sunny S. California with my hubby, my brother (best roommate ever and my best friend), and our 2 four-legged furry children (our cat's, Gracie and Cracker). We're a happy little family who laughs a lot and we have a lot of joy in our house. For fun (when I force myself away from my laptop) I like to hoop, sew, read (though it's usually "business" reading right now), play with my kitties, spend time with my man and the bro watching our favorite movies & shows (we're reality TV addicts, I just know it's rotting my brain somehow, but I can't help it!), drink red wine, enjoy time with friends & family, thrift store shop, and hit the road for the occasional road trip to Arizona to visit my Mom and Gramma (my two favorite women).

As a newbie biz owner, I'm looking to learn more about social media marketing/networking, amping up my skills and education (the top three skills on which I need to gain further education are AWeber, 1ShoppingCart, and WordPress).

And there ya have it! Drop me a line sometime or friend me here on FV!

Hi Everyone!

I've enjoyed reading everyone's introductions, so I decided to chime in. I finally started my VA business early last year, I say finally because I had wanted to do this before I even heard the term VA (probably 5 years ago or so). But things happen the way they are supposed to and it all fell into place after having my 2nd child in 2008. I started my family later in life, so I have lots of business experience behind me now. And here I am.

The thing I love the most about our industry is the networking and helpfulness of everyone. I have learned so much from the various forums I have joined and blogs I have devoured. Virtual Assistants are by far some of the brightest and hardest working people I have had the good fortune of being associated with. I write a blog that profiles Virtual Assistants. The goal of the blog is to bring out the personalities and work styles of VAs. I like to say that in the old days we sat across the table from our future clients or employers, now they have to rely on whatever information they can squeeze out of our emails, websites, blog posts and tweets! What I love the most about my blog is the relationships I have built with each VA I have written about.

Thanks for reading about me. I am located in Massachusetts. Feel free to connect with me here on FV, I hope to get more active on this site.
Hi,
I'm Sloan Kelley. Nice to meet everyone. I am the owner of Virtual Assistant Center. I am very excited to be participating in this community. I look forward to meeting other Virtual Assistants and learning from them. Have a great day!
Hello everyone!

My name is Sylvie and I am the owner of Optim Office, a Paris (France)-based VA business I set up 5 months ago. I offer VA services to small- and medium-sized business owners as well as solo entrepreneurs (general administrative services, PA services, bilingual services and transcription). Prior to that, I worked as a PA to top executives at board level. I am a French native.

Hello everyone!

My name is Amy Stamper and I live in NC with my boyfriend and 2 year old Pekingese, Smokey Joe. I had my grand opening for my VA business about 1 month ago, but bring over 20 years experience to the field. I'm enjoying the entrepreneur journey a lot.

I enjoy traveling, reading and have a huge affection / addiction to antique and muscle cars. We frequent antique automobile shows.

I'm happy to be a member and look forward to getting to know everyone a little bit.
Thought I'd already weighed in here, but I can't find me anywhere!

I'm Joel D Canfield, and yes, Sue is my Best Beloved. She's mentioned that I love music. That's a bit of an understatement ;) When I told her I loved her more than music, she knew it was serious between us.

I've been blogging about music at Know Your Music for 8 years. I just converted the site from my own hand-coded blog to WordPress, which didn't exist when I started blogging. I also write music which I think sounds like Bob Dylan and Tom Petty meeting Dwight Yoakam at Roger Miller's house for drinks.

I've written three business books and one fiction book (so far) and hope to finish two or three more in each category before the end of the year. My author coaching and independent publishing site, where I can help you get your book written, is Someday Box.

Business Heretics defines my attitude toward business: the belief that we need to be more human and less corporate. It's the primary force behind Chief Virtual Officer.

Even before Business Heretics I had a customer service idea that I haven't launched yet. I'd love to hear your thoughts on The Orange Card Movement and whether businesses and consumers would benefit from it.

I'm not a VA, but I've been a virtual worker for nearly 15 years, and worked with computers for 10 years before that. If it's about computers and the internet, I can probably help. If it's about WordPress, I'll probably be grinning like an idiot while I help 'cause WordPress affects me like that.
Hi, my name is Holly Brown and my business is A Virtually Mindful Assistant. I have over 10 years experience as a high level executive assistant and have recently decided to create assistant business. I am still challenged finding clients & have registered with many business and social networking sites. Still learning this new world!
