I have a client who has asked for my assistance in managing his LinkedIn use. Does anyone have a checklist or resource that would help me get my feet wet with this? I've seen several people who offer this service, but I'm looking for a workflow of sorts.

Hi Leigh Anne
I did some checking a while back for LinkedIn resources and there were none really. I posted a query about it and was inundated with people trying to sell me all kinds of LinkedIn marketing know how. Good Luck though.

If anyone else has a good resource, I would be interested as well.

If you need a very simple overview of Fast Pitch Networking, I have created one (free). This site is really good for people who really like technology.

Warmly
Kathleen
Have you read Guy Kawasaki's Ten Ways to Use LinkedIn? I found it very helpful. I manage several clients LinkedIn Profiles. Though I haven't created a checklist, here are some thoughts:

I encourage clients to spend at least 15 minutes on LinkedIn twice a week (or I do this for them)
Make sure their profile is complete
Recommend others
Ask for recommendations
Update your status twice a week; include a link to your blog or some other useful resource once in a while
Use all the new applications available: upload your WordPress blog; add books you are reading to the Amazon application, create an event, etc.
Join appropriate groups and start and add to discussions
Ask and answer questions

I have made some very good contacts through LinkedIn and if it's used properly and you or your clients maintain a regular presence, you will find it very useful.
Great answer, Sue. I copied and saved it. Thank you!
Sue is spot on with her reply. It's really more of doing LinkedIn profile management for them and ensuring that their profile continues to stay fresh and applicable.
I am HUGE Linkedin fan and use daily in my online networking. When I work with clients here are some things I recommend and/do as a service.

1. Identify how Linkedin will best meet your client needs
2. Who is his/her target audience

- Based on the information above you will then want to optimize your clients profile to ensure it is written in manner that addresses their market.
- Use all the applications that make since for your client (i.e. recommended Books, Slideshow/presentation, Upload Articles, Blog, etc)
- Keep the Status Updated at least every two-days
- Join Groups pertaining to both your clients industry and target market & participate in these groups regularly at least once to twice per week
- Answer and Ask at least one question per week (if possible) in both groups and in the answers section
- Post Events (if applicable)
- Make at two strategic connections per week (this is doable if you are active on the site)
- Monitor who is viewing the profile and make a connection

There is so much to any given SM site and the most important thing with all of them is the strategy you take.

Wising you great success,
Monique Terrell, Virtual Assistant & New Media Expert
Thanks, Monique. This is great advice.
