Web-Based versus PC-Based File Storage

Anyone have any thoughts on Web-based versus PC-based file storage for backup purposes? I'm looking into which is better in what situations. Any thoughts on the subject are greatly appreciated.

I've come to rely on Google documents for my back-up and file management system, works WONDERFULLY.

One of my current contractors owns a virtual server company.  If you'd like I'm sure he'd be willing to discuss the pro's and con's with you.  He's very down to earth and could give the benefits to going with a web-based system.
