I am currently using Road Runner internet service in my home office.  As my two year lock on price will be coming up this month, I am looking to hopefully find a good USB connect card so I can access the internet everywhere.

Has anyone used any service like AT&T, Verizon, etc. with these, and how did they work out?  I would really like to get opinions before trying and spending money!

Thanks to anyone that can contribute.

Hi Jeanette,

I know Verizon is expensive. I have their cell coverage - it never drops calls but you pay for it. Thank you for the info!
Colleen, I don't know if our experience applies to North Carolina, so if I'm way out in left field feel free to let me know; I'd find it helpful.

We use a wireless router in our home office Sacramento; it's part of our phone service. But we're not home right now, we're in British Columbia. We've done business on the four lazy days we took to drive here, and in various locations while here, without bringing our web access along. We've simply used the free WiFi that's now available in virtually every coffee shop and library in bigger cities. (We've got a wireless setup in the house where we're staying, so we're not running out to the coffee shop just to have web access.)

Consider the possibility of using your laptop's built in WiFi (or getting a WiFi card) and just using the access that's already out there, rather than paying extra for a service.

Of course, if you need access while driving, in the middle of the park, or out on a sailboat, that's a different matter.
Hi Joel,

I think you are on it. I was hoping to find that there was a wireless card I could use at home and away - all the time. But as it looks it is just too expensive and not good enough coverage. I will continue with my high speed cable at home and hot spots when I'm out.

Thanks much
