I have to tell you, I'm really good at doing the research and amassing all of the information. I think i've got a pretty good base of information as to "how to" market myself. But, when it comes to applying what i've learned, I tend to get overwhelmed and don't know where to start or how long to integrate it all together. Case in point, my web site. I've researched all kinds of stuff to make my site more SEO friendly, what kind of information to add to it. There are so many different ideas and options that I can't decide what to start with and my site is still basically a blank slate. Any suggestions?

Well Marta I went to your site and it looks great there are a few suggestions I would like to make with no offense. I think you need to have a sign up page for list building on the first page. I also think you should have a freebie give away. In you about us section...give me some more personality about you what makes you different show us your sense of humor or personality.

As far as SEO do you have Google Analytics? Did you put all of your keyword in your content, if not go to keyword tracker...Also in your signature direct clients to your site by having your site and freebie announced in your signature.

Tell me do you have a niche market?
List three things that you have researched regarding SEO and I will tell you which to implement. Marta its all about testing and trying...Im here for you give me your thoughts.
HI Lucinda...I can't believe I missed your post back on 11/12. Thank you so much for your thoughtful response. I do have google analytics, but I have to check out the keyword tracker.
Hi Marta!

I've just posted the below in the "newbies" group. I had a friend do my website for me so do not feel qualified to advise on that but this is what I've been up to recently: -

I am trying all different types of marketing at the moment! I'm new to this so have no idea what avenue is going to work! Here's a few things that I have done - maybe it will spark off some ideas if other newbies are stuck. It would also be good to hear how and where other newbies are advertising:

1. I've put my details on postcards, small and large posters and altered the wording for each target group. For example I have gone with "Why stay in at home typing up your work when you could be doing something you really enjoy!" on posters I have put around the colleges and universities and "Can I help you with typing a letter, filling in a form or sending an email?" to the local old people's homes.

2. I've also made "general" postcards & posters and have put them up everywhere I can!

3. I've put my business cards in with every correspondence and have used those pre-paid envelopes you get with lots of the junk mails. The worse thing they can do is to throw it in the bin - nothing ventured, nothing gained!

4. I am in the process of advertising on all the free advertising sites. I've actually had some responses from Gumtree. One was a bit dodgy (!), one offered my some Mystery Shopping (which I am following up) and the other really wanted a "real" person but was just checking on my status!

I am still looking for my first elusive client but it really is early days and I still feel a little "wet behind the ears"! I have enough faith to know that when the timing is right everything will fall into place!

Come on newbies - share your ideas on how you are advertising at the moment!
