Hello everyone! Now that a few of us are members of the group it's time to talk. In your experience with other virtual assistants, what do you notice they're missing in regards to Excel? What do they need to know to be better at their business?

I really haven't dealt a lot with other virtual assistants, so I can't answer your question in that regard. I do receive requests and questions from former colleagues and current associates on how to do particular tasks in Excel. I would say their biggest obstacle in venturing further in Excel in their inability to properly search for an answer to their given question (either within Excel or on the internet). They try to figure it out, only to become frustrated and finally send me a message explaining the issue and asking for help. Honestly, I don't mind -- it helps keep my skills sharp.
Thanks Leigh Anne. Would you say that their questions are centered around formulas, formatting, or something else?
Frequently, they center around a formula not working correctly. I do get formatting questions and just "how do you . . ." in general as well. Most of the time, the questions are for 2003, although I have had more 2007 questions recently. Since I operate in 2007 now, I find myself borrowing my son's computer to make sure I remember steps/locations correctly. I actually surprise myself at how much of the 2003 system I remember; I've been on 2007 for over a year.
2003 still is a strong one for me. I know a lot of people still using it. When I encountered 07 for the first time the hardest part was just getting used to the new interface. Once I got that figured out the rest was easy as pie.
Using Excel as a form filler. I'd love to get more tips and ideas for that.
Can you explain a little more about what you mean or give an example?
I have forms I'd like to send to my clients to complete in Excel . Using the same questions and format is nice for evaluating. I want to keep it simple that the client can complete it easily online and send it right back filled out. I'm not sure if there's a possiblity to convert a PDF file to an excel form or not.
That would take a little research as far as PDF conversion to Excel (my 1st thought would say no). I just want to verify that you want the clients to fill the form out on the web. You don't send the form as an attachment, correct?
Collette do you mean as a data file for a merge? I can help you with that if you need it.
