I've just landed my first job through elance.com. It is for ghost-writing ebook rather than on-going VA work.

This job is going well, but it's also about the 20th job I bid on. Has anyone else had better success landing jobs through elance.com? If so, how did you do it?

Blessings,
Jim Bob

Hi Jim. Congratulations on landing your first job. One time projects can often lead to ongoing work.

I tried using elance years go when I first started and realized quickly it wasn't for me. I don't want to spend lots of time bidding on jobs at a low rate where people are often looking for cheap but not necessarily looking for quality or a long-term relationship with a VA.

What has been extremely successful is attending networking events and gaining new clients through word of mouth referrals.
Aw, Sue beat me to it.

Yeah, I tell all my clients, if you're bidding for a job, you don't want it.

I'm curious, if you're willing to share: are you getting paid what you want for the work, or did you settle for less than you'd have preferred?
