Hi Sue:

 

It is nice to see someone actually having a group where we can speak about our roles in parenthood while we are working from home.  My daughter is a beautiful 9 1/2 year old child and loves when I can be available for her when she comes home from school.  It is so hard to let her go in the morning, but I always tell her that I am happily working from home now.  My husband is happy about this too because I can do lots of things at once in my home location instead of constantly running everywhere.  Yes, when the weather is nice, then I go out to do errands, but for the most part I am working online and on the phone. 

 

My daughter is a pleasure while I work because she also loves to keep herself busy whenever she is home during my schedule to speak to people and get deadlines met professionally.  She says to me that some day she would like to work with us in our family business.  She is so adorable.

 

The most difficult challenge is to find clients who feel comfortable, like and trust me to work with.  I love meeting all kinds of people, but the economy is tough and I need help getting connected out there or here.

 

Being a stay at home mom is wonderful as long as my contributions to our household is just as helpful to my husband as possible.  My daughter is in 4th grade now.  I expect to have things really moving soon! 

 

I started our coaching business as of August 2009.  My husband is a relationship coach, and I am the VA who runs everything in our office.  We just finished writing an ebook. 

 

I decided to offer my own services as a VA and web & graphic designer because these are my skills and talents.  So I started this business in October 2010.

Hello,
I have been homeschooling for 14 years. My children are 14yrs, 11 yrs, and 7 yrs. One girl, and two boys. I have always homeschooled them and a few years back decided to pursue my College degree and it has turned into be earning my BA in Organizational Management with a concentration in Education. And I Masters In Teaching and Learning with Technology.
I am now looking to start a VA business and be able to earn some income to help pay off my student loans while still staying home with my three kids and homeschooling them.
I am also willing to subcontract if anyone out there is looking to hire a subcontracting VA.
Thanks Sue for starting this group...its a great idea and it is great to hear I am not the only VA working mom, who homeschools. :)

Hello everyone,

I started my VA business to allow me the time to stay at home with my daughter and still earn some money. However, after 2.5 years my little hobby has turned into a business and I love the time it has afforded me to spend with her. It is hard sometimes juggling work and an active toddler, but would not trade the time together for anything.

Amanda, my little girl is 5, almost 6, and we have been working from home since she was born. I'm now homeschooling her and she too knows when to be quiet and when to go 'work' on her own. We definitely have lots of time together and by taking just a few minutes with her when she needs it, she can play alone for quite a while.

For example a while ago she wanted to play Scrabble. She was willing to let us set a timer for 10 minutes and play Scrabble. Then we got back to work and she's reading and playing.

Hello Everyone! I am a Mother to a 3 year old and a 7 year old. My three year old is at home with me most days, and the 7 year old is in school. I definitely have to work around having two kids home with me a lot. It seems to be working well so far! Both of them understand when the phone rings...everyone needs to be quiet...and when I'm working, I can't play. We definitely have our fun time though. I love having the opportunity to be with them, and work as a VA! After spending 8 years in the real estate/escrow industry...and the rest as an Office Manager...it is a pleasant change!
