Part-Time VA...It Can Be Done!!!

  • Rating: No Rating
Hello fellow VAs!!

So I get questions about WHY be a part-time VA and HOW. Well as a background, I'm a 25 yr old single mother finishing up my Master's Degree in Human Resources. I work a full-time job 40 hours a week as an Office Manager, go to school full-time, and am part of the VA world on a part-time basis. You say, where's your social life? Be Young...you're only 25!!

To tell you the truth, I would rather NOT have to pay back student loans so being a part-time VA helps out with the rather educational bills on my end. And yes, I do have a social life..Weekends begin on Thursday night and end around Sunday 430pm ^_^

Not only can I use my awesome skills in taking a break from studies, but I can grow as a person - professionally and personally. So for those of you out there who think getting into the virtual administrative world part-time....IT CAN BE DONE!! Jump into it and fly with open wings...and it will be an exciting ride! It was for me =)

Hi Collette!

Thanks for the blog comment. For me, I let employers know how much time I am available to them which is about 15 hours per client each week. My focus tends to be on word processing, email management/customer service, and ecommerce web support (updating/removing/changing products).

In the beginning, I did start with data entry and Excel spreadsheets, but couldn't comply with the deadlines that my clients needed so eventually I let go of that. Go with something you are comfortable with and doesn't take you a second to think about! Good luck and it's great meeting a fellow VA!!

Yes, I agree it can be done part-time too. That's how I'm doing it just to get my feet wet. In a few years I hope to be FT. Curious how and what kind of projects you find that clients are willing to work around your hours. I've been lucky enough to do a lot of Excel spreadsheets and data entry just curious as to what your focus is. Good for you in doing all those things.
