It’s summer here in the northern hemisphere, and that means vacation. The beach, the mountains, the pool, your backyard — here we come!

Of course, it’s not quite that easy if you work for yourself. In fact, taking a vacation when you’re self-employed can be downright exhausting. A lot has to be done in preparation for being out the office, even if it’s only for a few days.

It's very helpful to make sure you let clients know well in advance of any time you'll be taking off. Virtual assistants in particular may want to have another VA available to back them up. I've got a couple of people I can call on when I'm going to be away and have just worked out a similar plan with another VA to be her backup.
